New Asbury Park / Tillie Items
Remember "save Tillie"? You know who Tillie is, that funny faced guy or image that was on the side of the Palace Amusements in Asbury Park, NJ. So many people worked really hard to try to save and preserve that building and that goofy image. Now you can let Tillie save you!! Or save your furniture....I know....corny, right. Well anyway...check out our new Tillie Coaster Tiles and Asbury Park postcard coaster tiles. They are available on our website and in our brick and mortar store, Under the Sun Furnishings, 658 Cookman Ave., store 17, Asbury Park, NJ.

Great Shopping in Town this Weekend!

We are having a spring sale this weekend at the Shoppes at the Arcade. Don't forget to come by my store, #17 on the lower level. Just a reminder, there is plenty of parking on Lake Ave. Just enter the Shoppes at 633 Lake Ave. You can't miss it, just look for the Shoppes at the Arcade sign at the top of the building!

This just in.....we've recently added this item to our website. It's the Milan Puff Chair by Chicago Textile Corp. It comes in a wide choice of fabrics and you can choose between two wood finishes for the frame. This has to be the most comfortable chair my butt has ever been in!

Greek Restaurant in Asbury Park
I was finally able to go to eat at the new Greek restaurant that's right next to the Shoppes at the Arcade, where my store is. The restaurant is call Synaxis..by the Shore. I was sort of in a rush when I went because I had someone watching my store while my husband and I ate. I must say that what we had was great. We shared an appetizer Sampler for Two and had a couple of Heineken beers. We sat at the bar...the service was great and the bartender was super friendly. We were so stuffed...we actually had to take home part of the appetizer. Don't ask me what it was called....I just remember that it was the appetizer sampler for two. It consisted of calamari , (nice and tender) assorted cheeses, phyllo pastry with spinach and cheese, thinly sliced zucchini and eggplant that was battered and fried, stuffed grape leaves, flatbread wedges for dipping in the 3 assorted dipping sauces, Greek sausage and Greek meatballs. I think there were a few other things on the platter but I can't quite remember. There were some other very interesting items on the menu but because I had to work, I didn't want to over do it...otherwise I would have wanted to go straight to sleep.
This Friday night Synaxis is presenting Greek Night, live band and the bellydancer Sasha. They suggest that you make reservations. The phone number is 732-897-9700. They are located at 660 Cookman Ave., Asbury Park, NJ 07712.
We are usually open until 8:00 pm so come do some shopping before you get stuffed.

Just a Quick Note
Had another great weekend! Didn't get to make it to Mattison Park
on Friday. Had to work late. That's a good thing though. Things are picking up in Asbury Park. Re-arranged the store to make room for some of this:

You are looking at our favorite Teak Root Bench and dome top curio cabinet.
We will be picking up some on Wednesday.
We have a new addition to our website.
It is the "No-Tip" Cylinder. It comes in two different sizes with a variety of fabrics to choose from.
It's a great addition to any room and provides extra seating when
you need it or with the optional tray, just pull it up and use it as an extra cocktail table.

Shopping, Dining, Dancing!
The past weekend went very well...We've acquired some new photographs for sale in our store by a somewhat local photographer of Asbury Park architectural elements. Of course you can't see them now...you have to come into the store to see them!!! Sunday was very busy. It was a little chilly out but it was dry and I guess people had cabin fever.
There are a few things happening in town this week. One thing of note: The Bros. Funk are playing at Mattison Park (located in the downtown area of Asbury Park on Mattison Ave.). Sounds like a good time to me. The show starts around 9:00. That gives you plenty of time to shop them dine and dance! If that doesn't float your boat then check out some of these happenings. But don't forget.....when your in town make sure to visit me at my store...Under the Sun Furnishings, located at the Shoppes at the Arcade, 658 Cookman Ave. store 17, lower level, Asbury Park, NJ 07712. Most of the shop owners stay open late on the weekend for your shopping and dining pleasure.
If you can't make it to town then you can always shop online at www.underthesunfurnishingsasburypark.com.
Below is a new arrival to the site, something that I also carry in my brick and mortar store.
They are paper shade table lamps. They really put off a nice ambient light that works well in any room.

My Day Off
Well...so to speak. The store is usually closed on Tues. and Wed. but I'm usually working from home. Piles of papers to go through...tax time....working on the website (www.underthesunfurnishingsasburypark.com)
cleaning house, all that fun stuff. While tooling around the web today, I found some pictures to share of Asbury Park, that sort of keeps one up-to-date on what's going on around here. Check them out...maybe you might want to add some of your own.

The Weekend in Asbury Park
The weekend went great! First Saturday in Asbury Park was a success in spite of the lighter crowd. March really came upon us so quickly....I'm not sure many people were aware that it was First Saturday. The people that did come out were great though. The entertainment was fun. The mayor jammed with some of the Asbury high school band members. At one point during the evening I could hear bagpipes coming from Cookman Ave. I was pretty busy at the time so I didn't get to go check it out but it sounded cool.
Sunday was a nice mellow day...a good day to recover from the night before. There was a Cat Show in town at the Convention Hall. I haven't heard any feedback from anyone that attended. I'm curious as to how that went. The St. Patrick's Day Parade was going on in Belmar. It was such a nice day, I'm sure many people were there. I did get the opportunity to meet a fellow blogger! Thanks for coming into the store...It was very cool to meet you. I'll be checkin' you out at Shellpile.
